Dog-Fighting Undercover
I was approached by the BBC 18 months ago with the idea of trying to infiltrate a dog-fighting ring in the UK.
My views on animal welfare have always been strong and the thought of people fighting dogs makes me sick to the stomach. I wanted to expose these people. This was an investigation that needed doing.

Wow, that was fast! Less than a day after PETA released heartbreaking photos and posted an action alert on their Web site drawing attention to the plight of more than 50 dogs who were transported on a Lufthansa cargo plane from the U.S. to a notorious Charles River Laboratories animal testing facility in Scotland, Lufthansa has announced a new policy prohibiting the transport of dogs and cats to laboratories.

Got Propaganda?
You’ve seen the advertisements. Trim celebrities like Elizabeth Hurley and Beyoncé tell you that eating three servings of dairy a day will help you lose weight. Thousands of Americans were duped into thinking that dairy product consumption is associated with weight loss because of this slick advertising campaign, which has cost the dairy industry more than $200 million. But now, in response to a petition filed by PCRM with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) in 2005, the U.S. Department of Agriculture and two national dairy organizations have agreed to halt this advertising campaign because existing research does not support the weight-loss claims.

Carl Lewis On Being Vegan
Can a world-class athlete get enough protein from a vegetarian diet to compete? I’ve found that a person does not need protein from meat to be a successful athlete. In fact, my best year of track competition was the first year I ate a vegan diet. Moreover, by continuing to eat a vegan diet, my weight is under control, I like the way I look. (I know that sounds vain, but all of us want to like the way we look.) I enjoy eating more, and I feel great. Here’s my story.

World's First Artificial Meat Grown
Researchers in the Netherlands created what was described as soggy pork and are now investigating ways to improve the muscle tissue in the hope that people will one day want to eat it.
No one has yet tasted their produce, but it is believed the artificial meat could be on sale within five years.
Vegetarian groups welcomed the news, saying there was “no ethical objection” if meat was not a piece of a dead animal.
