The Religionization Of Science

Science has become commercialized and technology has become a puppet in the hands of multi-national corporations, who, buy the instruments of law are suppressing data that hurts their bottom line.

Recently I finished watching a documentary called "Killer at Large" that contains the congress hearing of the Sergeant General of the US and how his duties were obstructed by those who profit otherwise.

I care deeply about science and rationalism, and it hurts to see modern applied science turned into witchcraft. No, I am not a creationist...just a seeker of truth who is loosing faith in commercial science by the day. I'm very sorry to say, but for me it has now boiled down to "faith". Someone must muster the courage to address the religionization of science even at the cost of being ridiculed and labeled.

Peer-reviewed papers after peer-reviewed papers are ignored for cataloging because the archives too are funded by the corporations.

Forget the separation of church and state, we need a separation of the industrial complex and science.

These are just a few of the examples where even the skeptic community has lied through their tooth.

They use intellectual arrogance and esoteric terminology to earn credibility and confuse the public.

Science, our only hope of learning the truth has been reduced to a corporate tool to protect corporations from liabilities.

IMHO, Science should always remain publicly funded and patents should be abolished. Science, which was meant to serve the interest of public is now being exploited to serve a handfull of powerfull corporate lobbies.

I refer to the tyranny of science. The old horrors are being brought back. Though we no longer torture in the name of God or in the name of the State, we torture in the name of science! - John Cowper Powys, English novelist

I cant agree more. I get disappointed and saddened that according to peer reviewed science,

    - Climate change is real
    - Ocean is dying (Watch End of the Line)
    - Food is poisoned (Future of food)
    - Animal Protein has been linked with cancer (by NIS, the most reputable science institute)
    - Milk has been linked with (prostrate/breast) cancers and diabetes
    - Correctly prescribed and consumed allopathic medicines are killing more people annually than all the quack cures combined

    - Animal protein and fat has killed more people than all the people killed in natural disasters, accidents and wars combined (Killer at large)

And the entire applied science is hijacked by the corporations.

The skeptic community is a sell-out (i am not saying they get paid, its a figure of speech).

They are busy debating the existence of God, whether ESP is real or not, how dangerous homeopathy is, if UFO have visited us or not, how to expose parlor tricks of Godmen....so on and so forth....

Wake up people. Work on real problems, not on fanboy facebook debates. You cannot help anything by posting messages on facebook. Get on the streets and get your hands dirty. And in this misplaced priority they call themselves "rational".

I mean, yes, there is a place for debunking paranormal junk. But this is not the hour.

    Protect Science at all costs.

It warrants repetition, but I am not trying to degrade science in any manner. Today we have so many valuable statistics on why animals and humans should not be tortured, thanks to science. Today we know fish feel physical pain like humans thanks to science. I am all in for science.

I feel hurt when science is abused by greed and proponents of pseudoscience. They are eating science from inside...

I recommend you to read chapter 13 and 14 of the china study. Its called the dark Side of Science and Reductionist Science.

    You can download it here:

    http://www.kranti.org/knowledge-base/library/books/vegetarianism/35-the-china-study-the-most-comprehensive-study-of-nutrition-ever-conducted-and-the-startling-implications-for-diet-weight-loss-and-long-term-health.html

Also, I do not support any science that is not humane. It may be scientifically true that cows give more milk when you feed them their own babies (also by mixing cow blood in their water supply)...but I frown upon and loath such scientist and such sciences.

One scientist said in response to mad cow disease (which happens when cows cannibalize), "Technically, the best meat for humans is humans...the best meat for dogs is dogs and the best meat for cows is cows).

Some scientist say there is nothing wrong with having sex with your sister or mother. This may be the truth. But its true that their is a special loving relationship between a mother and a child and it will be missed if sexual relations are established. Some scientist pursue an almost evil kind of science that reduces everything to mechanical moving parts or a bio - chemical reaction. I refuse to support such science.

    My position is crystal clear:

Applied science comes first. Theoretical science comes later. Cruel-science does not come at all.

    QUOTE:
The group that cloned dolly, before that engineered a sheep called Tracy and Ron James, the owner of Proteins Pharmaceuticals who owns the patents on these group of animals basically said two things in a debate with me that I cannot forget. He said, one, "Sheep are just funny little factories producing specialized chemicals for us". And the second thing - the patent that they had was for a "Mammalian Bio Reactor". The cloning of Dolly which had been based on killing something like 272 other Dollies that didn't work out right which didn't make the news...this destroyer and this destructive science was positioned on the cover of magazines where Ian Wilmut - the scientist, and of course they hid the corporation that financed Ian Wilmut - the scientist stands face to face with Dolly and the caption was - "The Creator and the Created". This Absolute cosmic confusion about who is the creator, what is creation, what is life, is an absolute disaster for the future of humanity. It is really possible to treat animals as fellow beings, as not as was said in the Industrial revolution and the scientific revolution - "Inferior creatures over whom man must establish his empire"...but really as the Earth Family on which we are all in a democracy of life...the kind of knowledge it takes is a very different kind of knowledge because its a knowledge that cannot be purely quantified. Life organizes itself, life creates itself...our relationship should be a relationship of compassion which leads to a deeper science of complexity, self organization, ecological understanding of what the animals are and a science of respect and reverence for others. - Dr. Vandana Shiva, Physicist, philosopher, activist, eco feminist and Author

@Phyllis Ayers : I cannot speak on behalf of the skeptic community. What they gain or not is something only they can tell. Humans get motivated by a lot of different things and motivation theory is still a road under construction.

    I also recommend watching :

We are all ignorant. Some of us are more ignorant than others. I admit I am not a particle physicist. So I can write and believe and argue many things out of my ignorance. But so can anybody.

A particle physicist also cannot make a multiverse from scratch. It is my faith, again born out of ignorance, that unless you can replicate something your knowledge is not complete.

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. But, in practice, there is. - Jan L.A. van de Snepscheut

So a particle physicist is also ignorant, but to a less degree than me. So her knowledge is also incomplete and is susceptible to the same follies as me, albeit at a different scale.

Personally, I am convinced that there is no god as we define it. But its my belief. And I am not an agnostic or a creationist.

This is a very complected topic, and an emotional one too.

And yes, I never blamed science itself. @ Ragu Yammanur you are right. Its humans, not science. I never doubted that.

@Jill Stacy Broaddus couldn't agree more. Ultimately its about a chemical reaction perceived relatively uncomfortable to us. Whether corporations are killing, religion is killing or any other agency, the bottom line is that someone is getting killed and its not this killing or that killing but all killings must stop.

Again, for a very short treatise, read the last chapter of the following book if you can find it in your library:

    http://www.amazon.com/Golden-Ratio-Worlds-Astonishing-Number/dp/0767908163/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1267795402&sr=8-1

It gives references for further research.

Personally, we should spend our energies in pursuing positive applications of science, that will reduce suffering and promote mutual harmony. We should not mock people who believe in religion if they have not hurt anyone, since a belief in a thought is not a crime. The scientific community should work for the benefit of all earthlings - from plants to whales and people should only be judged by their personal commitment to applied compassion, rather than a belief that they hold which we believe is irrational.

You can believe the wrong things and do the right thing, or you can believe the right things and do the wrong things.

    http://www.kranti.org/connect/forum/4-coffee-lounge/629-are-religious-people-happier.html#629

All I am saying is that its okay to be an Atheist and a free-thinker, and I am not suggesting agnosticism either, but we should practice applied compassion and should not be arrogant or egoistic or self-righteous.

I have seen this. Free-thinking is not a guarantee of compassion.

Like Dan Dennett said: The secret of happiness is: Find something more important than you are and dedicate your life to it.

    http://www.kranti.org/knowledge-base/media/philosophy-talks/item/107-dan-dennett-on-dangerous-memes.html

All of us want to be happy. No one can claim they want to be miserable. In our pursuit of happiness, we should not transgress the happiness of others.

By all means let's be open-minded, but not so open-minded that our brains drop out. - Richard Dawkins
